Project logo. Spanish Lake: Confluence of Opportunity

Over 100 Spanish Lake residents, business owners, community leaders, and people of all ages attended the Open House on Thursday, May 21st, at the Celebrity’s Banquet Center. Attendees provided feedback on the project goals and community vision and enjoyed tasty frozen treats!

Thank you to everyone who shared the event, brought your family and neighbors, and championed this Study. And a huge thank you to our hosts, the Celebrity’s Banquet Center, who provided a welcoming space to host so many community members.

We’re excited to see you at the next Open House in a few months and share our progress!

Thank you for attending the first Open House!

Spanish Lake is a one-of-a-kind community in St. Louis County

This community has beautiful natural areas, strong neighborhoods, and a rich history.

This Study is an opportunity to envision the future of Spanish Lake together. It will help guide new investment, prioritize opportunities, and explore improvements that could enhance everyday life. Most importantly, this Study will build on what already makes Spanish Lake special, highlighting the best qualities and helping the community stay strong and resilient for years to come.

Phase One

The First Phase of the Study is nearing completion. The progress so far includes:

  • Learning about the community — from its land and geography, to the streets and sidewalks, even the way homes and businesses have changed over time

  • Reviewing data and past plans — to understand what has been tried before and what has worked and hasn’t worked

  • Listening to residents and community leaders — through focus groups, surveys, committees, public engagement, and more

This work will help shape and guide the next phase of the Study.

Phase Two

The Study is currently in the Second Phase and work is underway. The progress so far includes:

  • Identifying the Issues— understand and identify the things standing in the way of achieving the vision and goals

  • Creating a Community Vision — create a statement that captures the community’s long-term goals and future aspirations

  • Developing a List of Goals — establish goals that will address the issues and guide the community toward the desired outcomes

This work will help shape and guide the next phase of the Study.
